Twilight

So I got to go to Twilight. My sis-in-law, Chantelle, was going on Friday with her work (one of the orthodontists rented out the entire theater!) and her hubby couldn't go, so she invited me. Way sweet of her to think of me. So on Friday I drove up to Ogden and spent the day with Chan. She is the big sister I never had, and I am the sister she never had since she has two brothers. She is such a sweet person and the mom of three amazing boys. I had such a fun day with her and with my nephews that evening.

My review of Twilight the movie? Awesome. I have said that for me, it's a weird case where the movie is almost better than the books. I think the books are good and I've read them all (very quickly, as in couldn't-put-it-down) but they aren't literary classics or anything. I can only take so much of the wimpy, damsel-in-distress Bella. Know what I mean? But the movie was just the right balance for me. I thought they cast all the actors very well and I really did love the movie. Everyone asks, "Edward? Or Jacob?" Well, I say that I would go for Edward. But, I actually would say Carslile as well. I mean, first of all, he's more my age! Second, he is the noble leader who has never tasted human blood (except to change Edward and Esme.) And, he's a doctor. I just like that I guess. Well, hello, I'm married to a PA. By the way... Edward and Bella in the movie are a million times better looking than the actors in real life. I don't know what is up with hairstyles and clothing these days, but if you see photos of them in real life, they look awful. (To me, anyway.) Much better "in character."

I would go see the movie again. I read one criticism about the special effects in the movie in trying to make Edward's skin sparkle in the sunlight and in the running. I agree that those effects weren't very good. Edward in the sun in the book was better than Edward in the sun in the movie. And, the running was a little silly in some ways. I hear the second movie will maybe have a bigger budget for better effects. All-in-all I really thought it was a great movie and Chan made a good comment about this being one of the few PG-13 movies where people aren't sleeping with each other on the first date. They're really trying to create a deep love and connection, not just physical lust. (Although there is that, too.) But really, it's better than some of the trash that's out there.

Hope you all get the chance to see it! So romantic. If you haven't seen it and want to go, call me and I'd go again! I mostly just love the time spent with friends and family.

  1. I totally agree with you on the sparkling skin and the running. I was laughing so hard when he was running around and climbing trees with Bella on his back. And whats up with the chest hair??? I loved everything else though!

  2. I thought the movie was fun. I'm with you - I liked the movie Bella better than the book Bella. I talked Kirk into going to the movie with me - he hadn't read the book, so the whole thing was a little weird for him. But he was a good sport anyway, although he was a self-conscious about being one of only about 10 men in the whole theater! What a man!
