Hurst Halloween Howl
The annual Hurst Halloween Howl was last Sat. (Sarah named it that on her blog, and I liked the name, so I'm borrowing it!) We had a great time! Any guesses as to who Greg and I went as?
Here are some hints:
Greg
He may offer you a drink of green elixir.
He has a particular fondness for hot air balloons.
They call him wonderful.
Lisa
She looks great in green.
Has a knack for defying gravity.
She'll get you! And your little dog, too!

That's right! It's the "Wizard and I!" Greg is the Wizard of Oz, and I am Elphaba from the broadway musical Wicked. It's one of our favorites. So much so that I was willing to paint myself green to give everyone the full effect! Doesn't he look dashing with a grey mustache? You may have already seen pics on Sarah's Blog, so it might have given it away!
The party was great...as always. It's a bit of a tradition at our house because we have a fabulous mom and dad who like to have fun. When we were kids, on the Family Home Evening night before Halloween, we'd have our party and carve pumpkins. We'd always have doughnuts and apple cider, too. I have lots of neat memories of that as a kid. Now that our family has grown, we have still kept up this tradition.
My mom is the best at Halloween costumes. During the course of the evening, we all thought my mom was using the restroom (at least that's what Dad said) and then lo and behold the doorbell rang. Stacie and I went to get it, and in came "The Wacko Deer Hunter." Really, you have to be there for the full effect, because her acting is what makes the costume so great, but here's a picture.
And, here's the marshall with his very deadly cap guns. Watch out, outlaws! You don't stand a chance against this sharp shooter.

Here's the entire family...well, minus Ems and Shaun and Alexis whom we miss now that they're in Nebraska. (Don't worry guys, we missed lots of stuff when we lived in AZ and IA.)
Briggs was so cute as Winnie the Pooh. Captain and Mrs. America are Pooh's parents? I never knew. That shatters all my beliefs. I had to laugh because Dave said that he wanted to be a toilet plunger and have Sarah be a toilet to go along with Pooh, but Sars didn't go for it. We all think Mike Hansen should permanently wear his hair like that. Seve and Stace were darling as pregnant girls (Bunny=Seve and Care Bear=Stace.) I don't have a picture of it, but my Dad donned his Red Sox shirt and grabbed a baseball bat and went as "A big loser."
And I had to pose with Sars because it's representative of Elphie and Galinda. Fun stuff!

Good pictures. I like the one of Mom. She is so hillarious. I love it! I hope we do this for years to come.
