The Routine Interrupted

You know how my last post was about my typical day? I guess The Man Upstairs felt like I needed something to spice up my life and give me opportunities to serve my husband.

Greg has been really really sick. Swine flu. He and I can't even say that without laughing, which is sad, because it is real. He's just miserable. I am glad I work from home because I have been driving him too and from work. Yes, work. Good luck trying to get that dedicated PA to stay home and take care of himself for a change! Fixing him meals. Rubbing his aching muscles. Filling prescriptions. It's like a prep for motherhood probably!

He was one sick puppy on Sunday and we are grateful for everyone's prayers and love and concern for us. We have an awesome family. And I can't say enough about our wonderful neighbors! I went to mow our overgrown lawn yesterday and our neighbor already did it! What sweet, secret service. I had another neighbor call today to check on us. And, another neighbor was going to the store and asked if I needed her to pick anything up for us. I am hoping I can return all of these kindnesses when I see their needs.

I really have enjoyed helping Greg. I think it does bring out that good, caring side of womanhood that makes us all motherly. I like being able to give him comfort and be there in his time of need. I know how all of you mothers feel when your kids are sick and you only wish you could do more for them so they won't have to suffer. It is actually very Christlike, and that's probably why even though we've had a rough week physically, it's been spiritual, too. Sickness (or any trial) really does bring you closer to God and makes you humble and grateful for the things that really matter.

  1. So Greg is still going to work with the swine flu...??? What is up with that? I hope he gets better soon and I'm glad you have such great neighbors.

  2. That is a funny name for a flu if you think about it. I hope Greg gets feeling back to normal as fast as possible. I am always amazed at the faith that you both show amidst your trials. I know Heavenly Father is truly looking out for you and am so greatful that Greg is able to be back at work this week. Crazy that he is back at work though! I hope you feel our concern and our prayers. We are so greatful for you both and your wonderful examples!!! We Love you!!!!

  3. I got your message pretty late and didn't get a chance to call you back. Poor Greg! That stinks that he's been so sick. I have to admit hearing the words "swine flu" makes me want to giggle too. It sounds funnier than it is I'm sure. :) I hope he gets better soon and that you don't get sick too. It's good that you can take care of him when he needs you. Wow! What awesome neighbors you have. I love bonding moments like that with people you are just getting to know. I'm looking forward to seeing you and catching up a bit more on Saturday.
