A good morning
I always think I have to have these amazing things to post about, but today you get to read about my morning. This is just a basic day in the life. Don't know why I decided to post about an average day. I guess because I feel happy and good and that makes the day seem above average. If only every day could feel that way!
I slept in, which is always what I get to do. I don't usually get up until 8:30. I try to tell myself to start earlier, but that bed is just so comfortable! I typically try to exercise in the morning. Sometimes I do workout videos, other times I ride my bike in the garage on rollers. Today I wanted to ride outside because the weather is so nice. I almost didn't go on an outside ride because the mornings in Spanish are so windy! The wind starts at night around 10:30 or so and then it just blows hard until about 10 or 10:30 in the morning. But, I decided to brave the wind.
I started off on my ride, directly into the wind I might add, and tears were just streaming down my face because the combo of the wind plus the wind that you generate yourself on a bike was just too much for me! But luckily the road turns a bit and goes down to a really pretty country lane. I love to ride on it. There are tons of horses and cows and fields and a stream. Not many cars. I had a nice ride and a good workout. I ride down to the end of the lane where it meets up with a busy road and then turn around and come back.
On the way home I stopped to feed some horses. There was a mare and then a little mini pony. Not her baby I don't think. Just a mini. So I had fun doing that for a minute and I took some pictures with my cell for fun and sent one to Greg. Then I rode home and felt invigorated!
Then I took a shower...always a good thing. Then I usually get sort-of ready for the day, which means look presentable but don't spend too much time. Like no make-up today. And then I usually enjoy breakfast while I read my scriptures. I'm reading the Book of Mormon as a challenge from our bishop to our ward. It's awesome (of course!) I missed a day reading yesterday, so I had double to read. Luckily time is plentiful for me, so I was able to read a lot of chapters, which I really like because I can follow the flow of the speaker better. I like to really get the full concept of what they're talking about.
Then I get myself off to work, which is easy since it's just here in my house. Got a call from Maria, which is always fun! She has this great knack for calling me right as I'm going to call her. It's a cool connection. We had fun talking and making plans for our LD (college sorority) reunion. Then I just worked some more. Typical stuff. Ate some lunch. You know the routine.
Good day. Good morning. Good feeling of appreciating the current state of my life. Other days I feel like I have a blah life and I wish I were a mom already. But, I am so grateful for days like today and I will definitely count them as blessings to have all the time I want to do what I like to do.
Greg surprised me by getting home early today. I was glad because he is feeling sick. So I think I'll go and see how I can help him.

It is funny how we seem to both be thinking of calling one another at the same time. Sorry it was a bit more of a gripe session than a real conversation. Some days I just need to vent I guess. Truth be told, I think it's because you are a good friend who is in tune with the Spirit and you are probably sensing my need for your listening ear. But there is definitely something to our friendship connection as well.
ReplyDeleteGirl, I have to say how much I enjoy reading about your average day! I love picturing you with tears streaming down your cheeks during your windy bike ride. You always did have such a sensitivity to wind. When I had tears they were always genuine, but yours were usually weather-induced. :) I didn't realize it was that windy down in Spanish, as you so fondly call it. It is so cute that you stopped to feed the horses on your way home. I love that when you are enjoying something that you know Greg loves so much (like animals) you can't help but take a picture to send to him. Those are the little things that I think go so far in a marriage. What an example of a loving, caring, thoughtful wife you are to me.
I also love that you make scripture reading such a part of your early morning routine. I've been a kind of bad late night scripture reader so I've been working on moving it to the afternoons when Preston is napping and Dylan has quiet time. It's so nice to have it done early rather than dragging my zombie self to bed late at night and trying to keep my eyes open while I get through a few verses out of pure guilt. I wish I could get it done before the kids even get up, but like you, I too find my bed much too comfy in the mornings. I'll admit that having time to do all those things makes me a bit jealous, but our challenges are different and we both know it. I'm just glad that despite this long trial, you always find joy in life. Like I said before, I'm continually searching for the infamous Lisa juice that makes you you. I haven't found it yet, but I'll never stop looking. Somehow when you're around some of it rubs off on me though. Are you sure you don't want to move to Layton? :)
I always admire your dedication to excercise and stretch and read your scriptures, etc. That bikeride sounds fun even though the wind sounded like it was a bit much. Shaun and I want to come by and see you maybe on monday next week. I'll call and let you know. Always good to hear your posts!
ReplyDeleteHey Lis! Sounds like a fun bike ride and relaxing morning. Enjoy it! You are silly. I had to laugh at calling the pony a "mini". "Do you think the bamboo is planted because the zoo is getting a panda?"
ReplyDeleteYep, enjoy the time. :) I don't remember the last time I could have a day like that. Wonderful. One day again, but to everything there is a season, right?
