Christmas Tag From Stace

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper. Sometimes cellophane.

2. Real tree or Artificial? Artificial. But I debate all the time about getting a real one when we have kids. Greg doesn't want to, so we probably won't. But I just have fun memories of going to pick out a tree at the tree lot and bringing it home to set up. I'm sure my mom and dad don't have fun memories of trying to tie it to the top of the car and cut the stump to fit in the tree stand and vacuuming up the needles! But I love the smell of a real tree and I have awesome memories of laying down under the tree by my dad and watching all of the colored lights twinkle pretty patterns onto the ceiling.

3. When do you put up the tree? Right after Thanksgiving.

4. Do you like eggnog? Sort-of. In small quantities. I like to mix it with milk.

5. Favorite gift received as a child? Computron maybe? It was this early version of a computer and it had all sorts of learning games on it like spelling words and math games. It was one of many fun gifts I can remember.

6. Hardest person to buy for? Maybe Kirk and Ang? They live far away so it has to be something that can be mailed without too much trouble. And since we don't get to see them enough, I don't know them as well as I used to, so it's hard to know what they would like.

7. Easiest person to buy for? My dad. At least for the gag gifts. I don't know when it started, but I have this tradition of getting him (and my mom) a funny gift. One year for my dad it was a little dinosaur hand puppet and a calendar of donkeys for my mom!

8. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes. We inherited it from Greg's grandma Hadley. It's very traditional. I also have a small ceramic nativity that I made in relief society or somewhere. It has this teenie tiny lamb who is kneeling down to worship the baby Jesus. It's my favorite. I love that little lamb and the symbolism of it.

9. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail. Typically just a short card.

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Hmmm...can't think of one.

11. Favorite Christmas Movie? I like them all! I love the George C. Scott Christmas Carol. I like Mr. Kruger's Christmas. I like the funny ones like Christmas with the Kranks and A Christmas Story. There are so many good ones!

12. When do you start shopping? Not early! Although I did get a few early things this year!

13. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No.

14. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? All the goodies. I love almond roca.

15. Lights on the tree? Yes. White lights.

16. Favorite Christmas song? I love them all! I really love Good King Wenceslas. I love all the hymns. I love Andy Willams "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year." I love Karen Carpenter's "It's Christmas Time and Time for a Carol." So many of the oldies that remind me of growing up!

17. Travel at Christmas or stay home? We've done both! This year we are going to my mom and dad's. We'll go see Greg's family Christmas afternoon.

18. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Yes! Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen, and Roudolph!

19. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star.

20. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning. But we do open a gift from our siblings on Christmas Eve.

21. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? The pressure of buying the right gift or getting up the decorations or baking goodies or giving neighbors a gift. All that commercial stuff.

22. Favorite ornament theme or color? We really like ornaments that mean something. This year we bought one that is a dog with angel's wings and a halo. It's for Sophie, our dog who died on the Rez. I do love the red ornaments against the green tree. I also love clear sparkely ornaments that reflect the light.

23. Favorite thing for Christmas dinner? Probably ham and cheesey potatoes. I love my dad's citrus cinnamon clove punch. He sometimes even does the whole cheesecloth thing to strain the spices. It smells sooo good and is the perfect complement to a Christmas dinner.

24. What do you want for Christmas this year? I don't know! I have the hardest time thinking of what it is I want or need at Christmas; but, ask me any other time of the year and I can rattle off a ton of stuff!

25. Who do I tag? Anyone reading!
