Nebraska Trip

Getting there is half the fun--and we sure were a site to see with the wheelchair, crutches, stroller, and luggage! I loved going with Stace, Mom, and Tanner on this trip. Since my mom broke her leg, our whole joke when we called my dad (or anyone else) to give updates was, "Tanner is being good...so is Mom!" As if she is like a six month old! We had a great time. Here's the first day, which was just a travel day.

I brought a cheerleader fleece to Alexis so we had to get a few poses with it. Tanner got a bath in the hotel sink! There's me holding baby Colbie.

Omaha's Henry Doorley Zoo is amazing!

We all got the biggest laugh when we read about "Fu Man Chu." He was an orangutan at the zoo, and he was extremely smart. The zoo keepers started noticing that the orangutans would be out of their cages and loose in the habitat each morning and they didn't know why. They kept blaming each other for leaving the door unlocked. Finally they realized that it was Fu Man Chu. He had discovered a piece of wire from an electrical socket, and was using the wire to pick the lock and free his buddies! They didn't discover the wire at first, because in true prison-style, Fu Man Chu was hiding the wire in his upper lip. Sneaky monkey!

And, here's why I love nieces and nephews! They are so cute and fun to play with! We got to see Emily and Shaun's new house being built. I'm so excited for them. I'll have to go back for another visit when the house is done.

The landscape of Nebraska made me feel like I was back in Iowa! I loved it.

Here's Colbie's blessing day. What an adorable family!

Isn't Alexis so darling! Emily crocheted that hat. What a talented sister. Colbie's hat didn't quite fit but we made it work!

  1. What a fun trip! I love all the pictures of the fam! How great that both Tanner AND your mom were so well behaved for the trip! :) And I LOVE the story of Fu Man Chu! SERIOUSLY! I sat here cracking up for several minutes. Smart little orangutan! It scares me a little bit since Preston is going to be an orangutan for Halloween. I wonder if I should be worried! :)
