Our Weekend
I will try to be better able writing even if I feel like I don't have much to say. I know I enjoy reading other people's blogs, so the feeling is probably mutual. (At least for Maria!)
Let's start with Thursday. For our "date day" since Greg had the afternoon off, we layed out. That's right. Workin' on the tan. Me and Greg. In the backyard. In our skivvies. Funny, huh! It's our way of saving on tanning passes. The bees were trying to sting us, and due to the lack of a swimming pool we did get rather hot. So we came in after about an hour. 30 min. on each side to make it even, you know. How fun to have a husband to do that with! It sort-of cracks me up, but I would bet we'll do it again. Luckily we have a fenced backyard and lots of privacy. Otherwise the neighbors would have had a nice show since I was in a bikini top and short little shorts! Yikes! Never would I go out in public that way. That night we ate at Magleby's Fresh. Very delicious. They mailed us a "welcome to the neighborhood" coupon, so we got $10 off the meal. Always a good thing. I really enjoyed getting out of the house for dinner. We haven't done that as much as we used to, so it's a good treat.
On Friday we both worked and then that night we went to Coldstone...yet another treat! One that can't be beat. And it really tastes so sweet. (OK. Enough.) And rented "Transformers." Not the second one. That's right folks, we are behind on our movies and we just barely watched the first Transformers. We really liked it, though.
On Saturday we cleaned the windows. Well, Greg did. Only one person on the ladder at a time! The outside still needs it, but it sure looks better. He also vacuumed up cobwebs and junk. It just accumulates on those high ceilings and walls. We were wondering if they've been cleaned since this house was built seven years ago! At least it's done now.
After our work was done (because Saturday is, after all, a special day. A day to get ready for Sunday.) We headed down the lone trail to Payson for a day of shootin'. Greg went last weekend with some guys he works with, so now that he knows a good shootin' spot, I'm sure we'll be frequenting it again. We stopped at Rod Newman's house (another PA that Greg works with who was the one who invited Greg shooting in the first place) and saw his horses and new calves. The calves are going to be food one day. Very sad. I couldn't do that. They are too cute for me. But, I know that's what they are for. Rod is a great guy and such a hard worker. For one he is a busy cardiology PA. He (and the doc he works for) is in the stake presidency. He has more than 6 acres of land with his cows and horses and grows hay for them to eat. He and his sons have a gun company called Newman Arms and they're developing a gun that they hope to market to the military one day. I don't know what else he does, but he's so busy yet is one of those people that seems to have time to do it all and enjoy it.
Sunday was a regular relaxing day of church and rest. And then on Sunday nights I'm always already missing the weekend and thinking of the week's tasks. What's weird is that I like Mondays. I feel like I'm still feeling good from church and feeling motivated to do and be perfect. Not usually what happens, but hey, I like trying!

All you have to do is be the one raisin' the cows and you'll have no problem letting them become food. :) We've got 6 this year. It isn't as hard as you think.
ReplyDeleteI do like hearing about your everyday life. Funny that you like mondays.. So do I. I also feel renewed from sunday and feel like taking on the week. Mondays are often my project, cleaning, playing, and errand days. I also love having family night with Alexis and Shaun. I just think it is so funny how you guys have gotten into the whole tanning thing this last year. I can just picture you laying out in the backyard!
ReplyDeleteFun weekend! I love the weekends the most where you have no plans so then you can make your own plans TOGETHER!! I also think it's cute that you guys tan together. Silly! I love you tons!
ReplyDeleteI love picturing the two of you laying out in the backyard in your skivvies together. What a fun little date moment - even if it was hot. Awesome that you guys had so much fun on your dates and were so productive with the cleaning Saturday too. That's the best of both worlds right there - work and play. We're way behind on movie watching too. Kind of pathetic! I can't even tell you the last movie we watched - oh wait, we did watch one for our anniversary a month and a half ago so that's something. But besides that, it's been awhile. Keep posting! I promise it's more entertaining than you realize! :) Love you, girl!
