New Fire Ring

When we had our house in Enterprise, we had this extra land that we had made big plans for. Big as in plant a ton of pines and make a whole camping site there complete with tent spot, fire pit, log benches etc. Well, that didn't work out! But the dream lives on! It has just taken a smaller form.
Meet our new fire pit. We love it. It was christened with hot dogs and s'mores recently, and as the weather keeps cooling off, we think it will be a fantastic addition to our backyard.

Here's a full view of the patio. If anyone has cute outdoor decorating ideas for the outside walls, I'm up for it! Except if it involves rustic stars. Greg will not stoop to the level of rustic starts since they seem to be the hallmark of every home in Utah Valley.

Here's the inaugural lighting! We had to laugh because when we set this fire pit up, Greg was telling me about Dr. Cragun's fire pit. Well, you can't really call it a fire pit. More like an outdoor kitchen like you'd see in the parade of homes. So, I called ours the "little PA version of the fire pit!" Greg told Dr. Cragun and he thought it was funny. Sometimes I do say weird things because today I stopped off to say hi to Greg at work after taking some things to the DI, and I noticed this younger looking guy that I'd never met before. He's an MA filling in while their regular MA is on vacation. Anyway, I didn't know that at the time, and I asked Greg, "So, is that kid shadowing? Or is he a full grown PA?" Funny!!

So here's the proud papa. Well, the proud pyro, really. Boys love fire, don't they? Fireworks. Firewood. Fire whisky.

Here's the mama with the tray of treats. We bought these vanilla caramel marshmallows. Yum. I did have one incident with a flaming mallow that night. Not so smart that I waved it around to try to put out the flames. Greg reminded me of the dangers of that in case a flaming hot mallow landed on someone's lap. I just don't think in the heat of the moment sometimes. How do ya'll like your mallows? I'm one for nice and crispy on the outside and ooey gooey middle. We were roasting our marshmallows with Allyson (whom I visit teach) and two of her girls. The 4-year old, Emma, was roasting hers and it was starting to get bigger and bigger as it heated up, and she was like, "Is mine poofed, mom?" We totally laughed at that. Especially Greg. So, we know now that a perfect mallow is "poofed."

Here's me with one of the roasting sticks. The lounge chair I'm sitting in was an anniversary present from Greg. It is just too comfortable to only have one, so we had to buy another one for Greg! They are the best! Extra wide, with cup holders, reclining. Love those!

There is an open invitation for anyone who visits us to enjoy a nice, poofed, non-flaming, vanilla caramel mallow anytime you're in Spanish!
