Baby Animal Day

About three weekends ago, our nephew, Alec, called to invite Greg and I up to Park City to go skiing. We happened to be speaking in Church the next day, so we decided we had better not spend all day on the slopes when we needed time to prepare our talks. But, it was so kind of Alec to think of inviting us, and we really wanted to spend time with our cute nephews, so we planned to go to the Baby Animal Birthday Party at Thanksgiving Point. We ended up just having the two younger nephews, Austin and Andrew, and Greg's Mom and Dad come with us, so we still owe Alec an outing with us! That's in the works.

The day turned out to be cold and rainy, but who cares when you're with those you love...and for Greg that includes cows. It includes cows for me, too. It's amazing how much Austin is like Greg in his love of animals. Andrew, too. That is one thing that I love about Greg and, although I have never not liked animals, he has helped me learn to appreciate these wonderful creations even more.

Some highlights of our day:
  • Getting to submit our ideas for names for the new baby animals. Austin chose "Oreo" for a black and white goat. Greg chose "Buttermilk" for the holstein calf.
  • Just me and Austin and Andrew braving the rain to take a ride on the horse-drawn cart.
  • The tiny baby goat with lop ears! You would not believe the cuteness of this goat.
  • How soft the wool was on the baby lamb. It were wet, but the wool was still so fun to touch.
  • Having a bit of birthday cake...always a good thing in my book!
  • Feeding the cows. Turns out the mild mannered jersey cow, Daisy, is going to have a calf. I know we'll have to go back and see it.
  • Watching the ducks and geese on the pond.
  • The ever-supportive and fun grandparents...Sharon and Ger! Thanks for driving down in the rain to spend time with us.
  • Coming back to our house after a cold, wet day to eat warm soup and play the Wii.

    Such a fun day with your cute nephews. It sure sounds like your neighbors re friendly and welcoming. That is awesome. So excited to see you on monday!

    I forgot to say that I noticed the change up in the blog design and wondered if you made your own header and what program you used. I like the personal touch.

Almost To the Home Stretch

Here I am at around 30 weeks or so. I can't remember exactly when Greg took these pictures. It's hard to believe that I only have six weeks and five days to go before this little buddy will make his entrance into the world. I'm excited and nervous. I'm doing really great still. I think, after talking to Sarah today, that I'm probably having some Braxton-Hicks contractions but didn't really realize it. I'll have to start paying closer attention. Gotta love Zantac! Can you see that baby bump?

Man! Full body shots are not at all my fave. I have to do a better pose next time where Greg's not looking up at me while laying on the couch. That's always been like my least favorite camera angle. But can you see that little belly showing? This is 17 and a half weeks. My waist is disappearing and it for sure seems like my already well-endowed bust line has expanded! I'm just trying to take it all in stride even though it's sort-of weird that your body isn't your own anymore in some ways. But I think it's totally awesome that my body is designed for this. Go women! Every day I really feel like it's a miracle that I'm even having a baby. That's such a cool blessing that I wondered if I'd have, and now it's happening, and it's really surreal at times, but totally awesome, too. Half Way There

Wow! I can't believe it's been 20 weeks already. That's halfway, right? I have had a terrific pregnancy so far. I have some of the common "aches and pains" but have done really well. It's awesome. I will have to post another picture again soon, because this bump is getting harder and harder to hide. Sometimes I feel a little self-conscious about it in a way, but I think I need to embrace it more and not try to hold it in! (Not that I do or can anyway!) The best thing lately is feeling the baby move more and more and knowing that's what I'm feeling. I totally notice movement after eating, and also sometimes when I play the organ. I think it's just louder so the baby can hear it and reacts a little. It will be fun to see if that continues and let's all pray they get Greg's awesome singing voice! We went to a movie last night, and the baby was really moving during that. Probably because it's so loud in the theater. A week or so...
